OSS plausibility check for your BOP CSV
Check your German OSS import file before uploading it to the BZSt online portal (BOP): version line, country codes, VAT rates, amounts, and the known pitfalls of import format #v2.0. Everything runs locally in your browser, the file is not uploaded anywhere.
What is checked?
- Format: the
#v2.0version line, comma separators, point decimals with two places, at most 6000 data rows. - Country codes: valid EU codes, including the classic trap that Greece must be
EL(not GR). - Rate per country: whether the rate on a
STANDARDrow matches the destination country's standard VAT rate in the selected quarter. - Arithmetic: whether net times rate matches the declared VAT (the portal tolerates at most 5.00 EUR deviation).
- Structure: the country header row (record type 1) before its detail rows, positive amounts in current-quarter rows, correction rows (record type 6) in the right shape.
The tool checks against the published rules of the BOP import format #v2.0 and returns flags, not rulings: it does not replace a review of whether a return is substantively correct and complete. Faktwise is software, not tax advice.
Create the file straight from Shopify
Faktwise builds the BOP CSV automatically from your Shopify orders: OSS sales are detected, summed per destination country and rate, and exported in the import format. The guide to the OSS report and BOP export shows how that looks, and File your German OSS return yourself walks through the whole quarterly workflow. View Faktwise on the Shopify App Store.
